About Junior FIRST® LEGO® League India

(Jr. FLL)

The newest program in FIRST introduces the youngest students to the exciting worlds of science and technology. Just like FLL, this program features a real-world challenge, to be solved by research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, students work with LEGO elements and moving parts to create solutions and present them for review. Each yearly Challenge has two parts, the LEGO Model and the Show Me Poster. Working in teams of two to six children and guided by at least one adult coach, teams work to complete the Challenge.

Focused on building an interest in science and engineering in children ages 6-9, Junior FIRST® LEGO® League (Jr.FLL®) is a hands-on program designed to capture young children’s curiosity and direct it toward discovering how science and technology impact the world around them. This program features a real-world challenge, to be explored through research, critical thinking and imagination. Guided by adult coaches and the Jr.FLL Core Values, team members work with LEGO elements and motorized moving parts to build ideas and concepts and present them for review.

Junior FIRST® LEGO® League teams are about to learn that throwing something in the trash is only the beginning.  In the 2015-2016 WASTE WISESM Challenge, over 34,500 children ages 6 to 9 from 18 countries will look at trash in a whole new way.  From reducing, to reusing, to recycling, and beyond, find out what making trash really means.  Prepare to become Waste Wise!

Each year, Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL®) presents a new and exciting Challenge to ignite the creativity of young children.  While exploring the real-world theme, teams will learn about simple machines as they build a model made of LEGO® elements with a motorized part.  They will also learn to present information through aShow Me Poster.  Throughout their experience, teams will operate under the Jr.FLL signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.

Jr.FLL® Core Values

  • We are a team.
  • We do the work. Our coaches and mentors help us learn, but we find the answers ourselves.
  • We share our experiences and discoveries with others.
  • We are helpful, kind, and show respect when we work, play, and share. We call this Gracious Professionalism™.
  • We are all winners.
  • We have fun.
